Milestone pilot with Rødne

Breaking news!! Our p1 transformer tested successfully providing improved charging power to Ryger Elektra – one of the world’s first and fastest battery-only express ferries.

For this project we have worked closely with Rødne Fjord Cruise. Conventional electrical infrastructure is experiencing increasing negative aspects of total harmonic distortion (THD) and Common Mode Currents.

For electrical vessels this results in a significant reduction in electrical sailing range. Both as a direct result of the effect oft he THD on the charging process, but also the effect this has on battery degradation and reduced actual battery capacity.

The goal for this project has been to install the transformer technology in an operational environment (at the quayside for charging the vessel), to demonstrate the functionality and effects of the technology on the charging capacity and the batteries.

Our partners at Nøste have provided energy management services, done power quality surveys and delivered test results verified by DNV.

With Ezone technology at the core, it has been extremely encouraging. With results showing efficiency gains significantly above that of conventional technology.
